# Tags and saved views

> Group links across campaigns with coloured tags, filter the Links page with one search string, and save a filter under a name the whole workspace can use.

A campaign groups the links that share a `utm_campaign` value. Every other grouping — a client's links, the ones in review, the ones on printed material — is a **tag**: a coloured name, several per link. A **saved view** is a name for a filter on the Links page, so nobody has to retype it.

Owners, admins and members can create and change both. Viewers see them.

## Tags

### Putting tags on a link

Open a link's editor from [Links](https://app.utmkit.co/links). Under the UTM fields are the workspace's tags as coloured pills — tick the ones this link belongs to — and a **New tags** field for names that do not exist yet, comma-separated. The same editor has a **Note** field: free text about why the link exists, shown under the destination on the row and searchable.

The assistant does the same: "tag it printed and client-a, note: flyer for the fair". A new tag takes the next colour of the palette.

Names match without regard to case, so `Client-A` and `client-a` are one tag, and a name cannot contain a comma. There is a limit on tags per link and per workspace; the console names it when you reach it.

### Filtering by tag

The Links page has one search box, and every filter is a term in it. Open the **Tag** dropdown and choose a tag: the box reads `tag:client-a`, the list narrows, and the address bar carries the same string — send it to a colleague and they open the same list. You can type the term yourself, combine it with others such as `state:live`, and choose the tag again to remove it. Two tags means links carrying both; a name no tag has gives an empty list.

Tick several rows and the same **Tag** dropdown adds or removes a tag on all of them at once.

The CSV export honours the filter and carries `tags` and `note` columns (see [Exports](/en/analytics/exports)). The analytics report can be filtered by tag too.

### Tidying the set

The [Tags](https://app.utmkit.co/tags) page lists every tag with its colour and how many links carry it. Create one ahead of time with a chosen colour, rename it (every link keeps it), recolour it, or delete it — deleting detaches the tag and changes nothing else about the links. Each row links to the tag's links and its analytics.

## Saved views

Filter the Links page, open **Views** and choose **Save this view…**; the box's text is shown read-only and you only give it a name. The option is not offered when the box is empty — a view of every link is the page itself.

<Note>
  A view stores the question, not the answer. A link tagged tomorrow appears in the view tomorrow, and deleting a view changes no link.
</Note>

Views belong to the workspace: every member sees the same list. Choosing one puts its string in the box, and the dropdown shows a check while the box reads exactly that string. Names are unique in the workspace without regard to case, and there is a limit on how many a workspace keeps.

**Manage views…** opens the [Views](https://app.utmkit.co/views) page, where a view's name or search string is edited and a view is deleted.

## From the API and the MCP

`GET /api/v1/tags` lists the workspace's tags with their link counts; `POST /api/v1/tags` creates one, colour optional. The MCP tools are `list_tags` and `create_tag`. Reading needs `links:read`, creating needs `links:write`. A link's JSON carries its `tags` and `note`, and the link listing accepts the same `tag:` search term the console uses.

Saved views are console-only.
